Our Core Beliefs
At Canvey Island Baptist Church, our faith is the foundation of everything we do. We invite you to explore our core beliefs and discover how they shape our community, our service, and our commitment to Canvey Island.
The Trinity
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son (Jesus Christ), and Holy Spirit. Each is fully God, sharing the same divine nature and attributes. This understanding of God as a Trinity is central to our faith and guides our worship and understanding of the divine.
Jesus Christ: Saviour and Lord
We believe that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, lived a perfect life, died on the cross to atone for our sins, rose again from the dead, ascended into heaven, and will one day return in glory. His death and resurrection offer forgiveness, hope, and eternal life to all who believe in Him.
Living Out Our Faith
We believe that Christians are called to continue Jesus’ work in the world. This means loving and serving our community here in Canvey Island, sharing the good news of forgiveness and hope, and working towards justice and compassion for all. Our faith compels us to action, as we seek to reflect Christ's love in all that we do.
